The Fullness of the Resurrection

When Faith Still Feels Afraid

Gospel of John 20:19

The disciples are not confused about what they’ve seen—they are afraid of what it means.

Jesus has risen, but the political and social consequences are still very real. Association with Him could cost them everything. So they retreat—not in unbelief, but in self-preservation.

This matters for us, because fear doesn’t always come from lack of faith. Sometimes it comes from incomplete understanding.

They saw the empty tomb—but had not yet grasped the fullness of what the resurrection secured.

And many of us live there. We believe, but we’re still guarded. We’ve encountered Christ, but we remain cautious. We carry truth, but we haven’t fully allowed it to transform how we live.

Fear often thrives where our revelation is still partial.

Where have we received truth—but not yet allowed it to fully shape how we respond?

Lord, take us beyond surface belief into deeper understanding. Let what we know about You reshape how we live and respond.
