“Renewing” speaks of a complete renovation—a making new in quality, not just appearance. The “mind” refers to the inner framework of thought, perception, and understanding.
Transformation begins here. As the mind is renewed, life follows. But how are we being exposed to truth? Are we making use of opportunities for discipleship, or have we settled into a Sunday-morning-only rhythm that never truly reshapes how we think? And how do we listen to the Word? Do we listen with a posture of instruction—ready to be corrected, realigned, and led—or are we quietly resisting, more concerned with tone than substance, filtering what we hear through preference instead of surrender? Renewal is not passive exposure; it is active engagement with truth that we allow to confront and change us.
The mind is the battleground of transformation. It shapes desires, decisions, and direction. If it remains governed by old patterns—self-centered thinking, worldly reasoning—transformation is hindered. But when it is reshaped by truth, everything begins to change.
This renewal is ongoing. It requires consistency, not occasional engagement. It is not merely knowing truth, but allowing truth to redefine how we think. The result is discernment—the ability to recognize, test, and live out the will of God.
Transformation becomes visible not just in what we do, but in how we think, perceive, and respond.
