The Fullness of the Resurrection

Heirs of Peace

Gospel of John 20:19-21

When Jesus steps into the room, He doesn’t rebuke fear—He redefines reality:
“Peace be unto you.”
This is not casual. This is covenantal.

This peace is rooted in what He has just accomplished through the resurrection—sin has been dealt with, separation removed, and access to the Father restored.
Earlier, Jesus said, “I am ascending to My Father and your Father…” This changes everything. His Father becomes our Father. His victory becomes our inheritance.
This is the language of sonship.

As Epistle to the Romans 8:17 reminds us, we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. So when Jesus speaks peace, He is not introducing something new—He is reminding them, and us, of what is now true. We are no longer separated. We are no longer defined by failure. We belong. Peace is the settled reality of restored relationship with God.

Are we living like those who have been restored, or like those still trying to earn access?

Jesus, anchor us in the peace You secured. Teach us to live from acceptance, not for it.
